Proposing reduction of losses with IoT-compatible hybrid systems

IoT-compatible Daikin Hybrid System

Before introduction

There were waste and losses of various kinds at the factory site.

Oil temperature rise Periodic hydraulic oil changes Man hours spent on periodic inspections

For example, periodic inspections of the oil cooling unit

Because it is recommended to inspect the air filter of oil cooling unit regularly, it had to be done regardless of the machine’s operating time, and it placed a burden on the worksite.

Oil temperature rise Periodic hydraulic oil changes Man hours spent on periodic inspections
“The weekly inspections are tiring.”

After introduction

Hybrid System solves it!

Periodic inspection not required due to constant monitoring

Monitoring the operating status of the oil cooling unit through a connection with the machine.

The maintenance procedure can be confirmed on the machine’s screen or on a PC.

What is IoT?

“IoT” is the abbreviation for “Internet of things”.
Up until now the items connected to the Internet have been information equipment such as PCs, smartphones and tablets, but these days, games, televisions, microwaves, automobiles, and various other “things” have been connected to the Internet. IoT refers to the state where those “various things” are connected to the Internet.

IoT-compatible Daikin Hybrid System

With the hybrid system, it is possible to fetch information including not just hydraulic fluid pressures and flow rates but also internal information about the equipment such as power consumption and motor temperatures.

By accumulating and analyzing the information from these things in a machine (or in the PC in the maintenance room), you can keep tabs on their maintenance times and diagnose failures due to deterioration, enabling reduction of the man hours spent on periodic inspections.

At the machine manufacturers:
The maintenance timing and procedures can be displayed on the operation screen to help reduce the machine failure rate and the man hours spent on inspections.
At the machine users:
The maintenance timing and procedures can be displayed on the PC in the maintenance room, reducing the man hours spent on inspections.
Taking the example of hydraulic equipment:
Detecting increased oil leakage in hydraulic circuits to discover problems with hydraulic equipment at an early stage.
Taking the example of oil cooling units:
Detecting clogging of air filters to enable the predictive maintenance and reduce energy losses associated with faults.

Here we introduce a hybrid system that supports IoT to reduce waste in a video.
